How we survived the Covid 19 Virus (so far)
A community Poem
———————- Introduction ——————————
Let’s talk about this Corna infection
Let’s discuss it some and do some inspection.
Let’s examine the Covid 19
Get a new slate and start over clean.
We will poet it out
We will rhyme our way through
Lets put our minds together and
see what we do.
It’s a community effort
A poem made by many
To tell of a tale of a virus
that's affected us plenty.
Our rhymes won’t be good,
they won’t be pretty.
But they will say what we think,
and they will be gritty.
Let’s Go!
——————— Where do you want Covid 19? ———————-
Do you want it in Paris or Rome?
Would you like it in Wuhan or Nome?
I would not like it in Paris or Rome.
I would not like it in Wuhan or Nome.
I do not want it in New York or Seattle.
I would rather it just Skedaddle.
It’s everywhere. It’s a pandemic that’s global.
And as you can see it is very mobile.
It’s kinda like a worldwide Chernobyl!
Where would you find this nice infection?
So far as we’ve found it defies detection.
It could be here under your nose.
Grandma could have and no one knows.
The virus jumps from him to her,
from here to there.
It’s on every surface
and it’s in the air.
Anyone could have it no one knows,
They can have it a while before it shows.
Its sneaky and tricky and will trick you too
Be careful, very careful, BOO!
We are not trying to scare you,
but you could be one that died,
If you don’t follow our orders
and stay inside.
Don’t wipe your nose, don’t touch your eyes,
Don’t cough or sneeze or someone dies.
Don’t try to work or go outside
Others did and some have died!
All of our new rules you must abide,
Or maybe in court you will be tried!
---------------- Quarantine ---------------
Would you like to quarantine?
To stay at home and keep it clean?
Disinfect, clean and wash.
We don't want anyone sick by gosh!
Stay at home away from work, it will be easy,
Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy
Stay home, have a vacation,
It's a vacation for the entire nation!

———————————- Mask —————————-
Would you like a mask to wear?
You must wear it here and there,
You must wear it everywhere.
At first they said wearing a mask does no good,
It won’t help the neighborhood.
It can’t stop this infection,
So the idea found complete rejection.
Masks are in short supply,
save them so doctors and nurses can get by.
But wait: I thought you said they didn’t work,
We didn’t say that you silly jerk.
You misheard what we said,
Wear a mask so you don’t get dead.
Wear a mask it’s good idea.
It’s all the rage in South Korea.
In fact lets make it mandatory,
And don’t try to give us any sob story.
Just wear the thing, put it on
or face time in jail and become a con.
Its like the other rules that we’ve imposed,
There are no laws for the shops we’ve closed.
Or the churches and schools or other institutions,
Where there can never be any full restitutions.
Some will go broke and some will last
Lots will be things of the past.
But we are in our castles, we’re in our homes,
And we never lay off any of our government clones.
We make those around us as happy as we can
even if they aren’t a part of our actual clan.
So they will support us and do as we say,
To keep you in your place every, single day.
——————- Models ———————
Some really smart guys did a projection
About the spread of this Corna infection.
They did some thinking, they thunk and thunk,
But what they created, well it really stunk.
They used a computer to make it official
but the results they got were not beneficial.
Millions and millions would die, they did first conjecture,
“Listen to us we are smart” they did lecture.
“Stay at home, do what is right,
Be quiet, and stay out of sight.”
“We know what’s best for you and yours
Stay at home, there are no cures.”
We must flatten the curve
Flat, flat, flat,
that nasty virus we must combat.
that nasty virus we must combat.
We cannot swamp our hospitals,
keep that curve flat… keep it little.
Real life results didn’t match the computer projection,
and so the model faced complete rejection.
“We revised the model! And the new results show,
Deaths will be much less… so much more low.
First by factors of hundreds and then ten,
As they calculated over and over again.
The revised and rethunk and revisoed, re-vised,
And what we got is what there is.
Much fewer deaths, so very low.
But it could still get worse, don’t you know.
Better be vigilant better stay home,
Necessary travel only, you better not roam!
Better put a leash on the dog and fatten the cat,
Who knows when this might end, remember it started with at bat.
Fido might be supper, Kitten could be lunch
Cause we don’t have a wet market where we can brunch.
——————— Origins ————————-
It started with some Chinese people who ate a bat,
Not a bat you hit a ball with, but the kind that flies and eats gnats.
Why someone would eat a bat isn’t clear
So you have to use your imagination my dear.
Forget about the Wuhan lab over yonder
Where virus they study and other weapons they ponder.
Consider the culture, consider their plight
And if you were starving imaging you might,
Eat a snake or a dog or cat
An ant eater, frog or bat
Put that laboratory out of your mind
It’s a strange coincidence one might find.
Let us tell you about wet markets and exotic animals eaten.
If you don’t believe us you are a cretin.
And before this finished, before this is over
You may want to eat a bat, or maybe even Rover.
————— Stimulus Checks ———————-
We’ll send you some money, not a lot we know.
Just enough to put on a good show.
Not enough to keep you from starvation,
Just some to calm the agitation.
Grandma is dead, she got a check
A little to late to but what the heck.
Do we keep it and cash it or have it returned?
While others are hurting and have no money earned.
My rent is due, the car payment too
Twelve hundred bucks simply won’t due.
———————- conclusion ———————————-
We are smart. We are your betters,
We look down on you all as if you were bed wetters.
We are the elite you must listen to us,
Stay at home don’t make a fuss.
Do as your told, do as we say,
And maybe we will let you out some day.
You’ll be fine, just learn to do with less,
While we eat fine ice cream from our freezer chest.
My heart?
It’s here somewhere beating in my chest,
It circulates my blood and does its best.
To keep me going to keep me alive,
To live the life that I’ve neatly contrived.
Wait, with my heart you mean feeling?
Well isn’t that unappealing!
To think of others, to put them first?
What kind of politician would I be… I’d be the worst.
